My name is Sallie Fifield and I am a freelance designer/business administrator working from my home in Portland, Oregon. Following a 13-year stint in the USAF / Veteran’s Hospital (as a dental laboratory technician), I entered college at the Art Institute, with the idea of becoming an interior designer. It was through this program that I fell in love with “computer” design and switched my major to web and graphic design.
I moved to Portland, Oregon in 1994 and continued my education of animation / web design at the Art Institute of Portland. During this time I was lucky enough to get hired as a web designer for a small, but amazing company, but unfortunately after only 2 years I was laid off due to an unusual dry spell of design work.
This is also the time of my life when I started using temporary agencies for income and worked in several administrative positions including worker’s compensation and durable medical equipment. More than anything working for temp agencies showed me that I love (thrive) on variety, challenges and learning.
When I am not designing, I enjoy anything to do with animals, fiber arts, road trips, watching a great action or fantasy movie, and spending time with my family.
